What should I look for in a cloud-based brokerage’s revenue share program?

Every revenue share program is different, but the principle behind them is essentially the same: you earn a certain amount from the agency for every new agent you bring on board. The agents you attract are in your “Tier 1”, the agents they attract are in your “Tier 2”, and so on.

The number of tiers in a revenue share program matters, but so does the referral bonus for each level. Here are some quick facts about how this works at the major cloud-based brokerages:

  • EXP’s revenue share program only has two tiers, compared to five at Real and seven at lpt.
  • Real’s highest referral bonus is $4000 per revenue share partner. EXP’s is $2800, and lpt’s is $2325.
How much is company stock at a cloud-based brokerage really worth?

It depends. Real’s Elite Agent and Cultural Awards are based on the value of the stock instead of the number of shares, so you know exactly what it’s worth. It’s the same for EXP’s ICON Agent Award (although you have to meet some fairly specific criteria to qualify—see the chart above). Conversely, lpt’s rewards are measured in shares—meaning the actual value fluctuates depending on the company’s success.
